Volunteer Application
There is something satisfying and rewarding about volunteering and the giving of yourself to others. At the YMCA, our volunteers give unselfishly of their skills and talents to help ensure that the mission and work of the YMCA is available to kids, adults and families in our communities. In fact, volunteerism is at the heart of our organization and has been for the last 150 years.
When you volunteer at the YMCA your time and talent go a long way. Each year the efforts of our 1,400 volunteers translate into helping a child, mentoring a teen, assisting an adult with special needs or providing support for families. It's through the commitment and dedication of our volunteers that the YMCA meets its mission every day.
The YMCA of the North Shore has a variety of volunteer opportunities to choose from that give you the chance to give back to your community. We have established six categories of volunteer opportunities to help guide you in your decision to give back:
Program Volunteers – help to lead programs as an instructor, aide, or coach
Support Volunteers – provide clerical or office support for the YMCA at the Front Desk or in a department office
Fundraising Volunteers – raise funds through our campaigns (Partner with Youth, Capital, Planned Giving, Special Events)
Special Event Volunteers – assist the YMCA in planning and implementing special events at the Y
Policy Volunteers – serve on the board of directors, on a committee or special task force
Special Interest Volunteers – give time and talent in a specific venue to provide necessary consultation that helps advance the YMCA (i.e. facility renovation, legal assistance, human resource expertise, etc.)
